A vibrant new look for Torquay’s One World Cafe

Torquay-based One World Café, which recently opened its doors following a six-month transformation, has unveiled a vibrant new look thanks to  IRO Timber’s internal cladding.

The owner of the café, Alex Souloud, wanted to capture the atmosphere of its previous use and utilise this to create a one world style music café, specialising in music, food and cocktails from across the globe.

Alex had first heard about IRO Timber at Jewson Live in December 2018 and invited the team to the café, which was previously a one world shop, to discuss his requirements.

He said: “It was the wide variation and vibrancy of the colours which first attracted us to the IRO product. We wanted to honour the history of the café, so being able to see the finished product and the array of colours available was a big selling point for us.

“We were able to visualise exactly what we wanted to achieve with the décor with ease and lay the product out on the floor before fitting to the walls to create our desired look.”

Following the onsite visit from IRO representatives, Alex and his team decided to purchase IRO internal cladding for the café’s transformation, using a mix of four colours – charcoal, driftwood, sunflower and sunset – to create a large, stylish feature wall.

The team also used charcoal cladding for their seating area and lagoon cladding behind the bar – and they are also planning on creating small baskets for the tables with the remaining timber to display flowers and plants.

Alex added: “I would highly recommend IRO to anyone looking for a versatile yet high quality cladding or decking product.

“IRO was easy to use and source, the colour options are fantastic and it’s a great price. We found it was the perfect alternative to traditional oak or cedar products, and it really gave us the opportunity to be creative instead of just using paint.”
